    Procedure to Obtain the LMPC Importer License:

    Businesses involved in importing pre-packaged goods for sale, distribution, or export are required to follow these steps for Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities (LMPC) registration:

    1.Submit an application with the relevant controlling authority, either the director of Legal Metrology in the Union Government or the controller of Legal Metrology in the state government, through the specified website.

    2. If the application is approved by the state's controlling authority, the importer's name and address will be registered, and they will be issued a Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities registration.

    3.In case the application is declined, the Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities registration will be annulled.

    4.The registration duration for LMPC Importer License ranges from 1 to 5 years, with a minimum validity of one year.

    5. After submitting the application, it typically takes around 10 to 20 days to obtain the LMPC Importer license.

    6. If businesses intend to market their pre-packaged goods, it is mandatory to obtain the LMPC Importer license.

    7. To acquire the license, the applicant should apply to the pre-packaged products controller of the state where the business premises are located.

    8. If businesses plan to sell their products in multiple states, they must register with both the director at the Centre and the specific state controller.

    Documents Required for LMPC Importer License

    The following documents are required for obtaining an LMPC Importer License:

    1. Copy of the PAN card of the proprietor or owner of the company.

    2. Documents verifying the registered address of the office.

    3. Documents confirming the import premises, such as lease agreement or ownership documents.

    4. Import Export Code (IEC) certificate.

    5. Documents indicating the type of constitution of the business entity, such as partnership deed or memorandum of association.

    6. PAN and Aadhaar card of the proprietor or owner.

    7. Applicant's signature in JPG format.

    8. List of products intended for import, along with their eight-digit Indian Trade Classification (ITC) code.

    9. Labour License and Professional tax documents, if applicable.
